as i sit here in my cute and posh little artsy fartsy apartment in san diego, ca i give thanks to all the beautiful black freedom fighters who came before me.

without you there is no me.

thank you rosa parks
thank you black panthers
thank you langston hughes
thank you james baldwin
thank you malcom x
thank you harlem
thank you civil rights
thank you to every black individual who knew and believed that they were worth love and respect
thank you to my mother and father who knew they were not slaves but truly children of the world and of a higher creative energy
thank you Africa for giving birth to a people who are place on this earth to show that love, compassion, and equality belongs to all people
thank you South African Freedom Fighters
thank you nelson mendela
thank you harriet tubman
thank you to all the black artists, musicians, poets, and creative beings who expressed freedom, truth, and love in a multitude of ways that would resonate with all of human kind
thank you my black brothers
thank you my black sisters

i really do get it.
black is beautiful
black is light
black is justice
black is strength
black is freedom
black is respect
black is who i am
